Arrive in Kasane, Botswana. This is where your Moremi and Chobe journey begins. After the 4x4 handover, drive to camp for your first night in Botswana.

If arrival time allows, you can take a sunset cruise on the Chobe River. You can fly into Kasane, Victoria Falls or Livingstone for the start of this journey.

After several hours on the road, arrive at Camp Kwando, just across the border in Namibia on the banks of the Kwando River.

In the evening, watch the sunset by the campfire. During the day, you can join a boat trip or a guided game drive.

Drive to Ngepi Camp near Bagani. The camp lies on the Kavango River at the start of the Okavango Delta panhandle.

The journey to Ngepi Camp crosses the Caprivi Strip.

Stay another night at Ngepi Camp and keep the full day free.

You can explore the river by mokoro, take a game drive in nearby Mahango National Park or simply stay at camp. Popa Falls can also be visited from Ngepi.

After the days at Ngepi Camp, continue to Maun on a longer driving stage.

Because you need time in Maun for supplies and possible activities, an early start is useful. Arriving around midday leaves time to shop and refuel. A scenic flight over the Okavango Delta is also possible. You stay at Discovery B&B.

There is still time in the morning to buy supplies and fill up with diesel in Maun.

Then continue to Moremi Game Reserve and Third Bridge Camp. This is where the Moremi and Chobe section truly begins. Third Bridge lies on the edge of the Okavango Delta.

The day quickly becomes about game drives and wildlife. Lion, hyena and leopard are all possible, with elephants and antelope also common in the area. Camps inside Botswana’s parks are unfenced, so wildlife can move through camp at night.

After a morning game drive, continue through Moremi Game Reserve towards Khwai at North Gate.

Today is again centred on game drives and wildlife in Moremi. Paradise and Dombo Hippo Pool are worth including in the route. Reach North Gate and Khwai Campsite in the afternoon.

After setting up camp, there is time to relax. In the evening, you can drive along the Khwai River.

The 4x4 route from Khwai to Savuti is a major game drive in itself, so it pays to set off early. You can make one more loop around North Gate before continuing to Chobe National Park.

After deep sandy tracks where low range may be needed, reach Savuti Campsite in the afternoon.

This part of Chobe is known for bull elephants and the Savuti Pride, the lion group around Savuti Marsh. The Savuti Channel crosses this area and runs into the marsh. The channel had been dry for several years and has recently started flowing again.

In the late afternoon, there is time for an extended game drive in this distinctive part of Botswana.

After Savuti, drive to the northern part of Chobe National Park.

The 4x4 is useful again on the sandy tracks. In the afternoon, arrive at Ihaha on the Chobe River. Rest at camp or head out for a final game drive. You stay at Ihaha Campsite.

Drive a short stage to Senyati Safari Campsite. The rest of the day is free.

You can drive in Chobe National Park in the morning, take a day trip to Victoria Falls or book a sunset cruise.

Stay another night at Senyati Safari Campsite and keep the day free.

A day trip to Victoria Falls is highly recommended. The total return distance between Victoria Falls and Kasane is 160 kilometres. For this day trip we recommend taking a local shuttle rather than your own rental vehicle. If you do not want to visit Victoria Falls, the journey can also be adapted with an extra night in Moremi and Chobe.
