Kongola lies on the Trans Caprivi Highway in the Zambezi Region. The village is a practical waypoint on routes between Bagani, Rundu, Kasane and Chobe.

The Kwando River flows west and south of Kongola. Its water attracts wildlife and gives this part of Namibia a much greener character than many other regions.

In Kongola itself, you can refuel and restock before continuing the journey.

Mudumu is close enough for a game drive.

Game drives into Mudumu National Park are arranged from the Kongola area. The park lies within the same water-rich landscape of the Zambezi Region.

Driving through the region, you notice how quickly Namibia changes. Riverine woodland, open plains and water merge into one another.

That makes Kongola more than a fuel stop. It can be worth staying an extra night before moving on.
