Travel takes you far. Both literally and in the way it changes your perspective. At the same time, your flight and rental vehicle have an impact on the climate and the environment. For destinations in Africa, flying is usually unavoidable. Tourism is also an important source of income for many local communities.

That's why we believe it's important to understand the impact of your journey. According to the existing information, a self-drive trip can generate around 2,500 kilograms of CO2 emissions per person.

DEAN brings education and greener school grounds together.

One way to contribute is through DEAN, the Digital Education Africa Network. This organisation works to improve digital education in East Africa. Schools receive equipment, teachers receive training and children take part in workshops about their impact on the environment and the world around them.

During practical learning days, children plant trees around their schools. Digital education, environmental awareness and hands-on action come together in one place.

How CO2 offsetting through DEAN works.

A practical learning day at school

A practical learning day costs €400. Thirty children plant fifty trees together and learn about environmental awareness.

Contributing to your journey

One tree offsets an average of 22 kilograms of CO2 per year. For a self-drive trip, that works out to approximately ten to twenty trees per person.

A certificate for your contribution

You can contribute any amount. Through DEAN, you'll receive a certificate showing how much CO2 your contribution offsets.
