Arrive in Kasane, Botswana. Following the handover of your 4x4 vehicle, you will drive to your camp for the first night of your Botswana adventure. Time permitting, enjoy a sunset cruise on the Chobe River, or save this experience for your return to Kasane. Overnight at Senyati Safari Campsite.

On day two, drive your 4x4 to Elephant Sands Campsite near Nata.

There is still time in the morning for a game drive near the Chobe River. Before leaving Kasane, stock up properly for the days ahead.

From Elephant Sands, head south towards Nata and the edge of the Makgadikgadi salt pans. From there, a dusty 4x4 route crosses bush tracks towards Kubu Island.

Kubu Island is a rocky island dotted with baobabs, surrounded by salt pans. The campsite is simple and close to the island. Explore on foot, look out across the open flats and watch the day end at sunset.

Spend the early morning exploring Kubu Island before heading north towards the cattle fences. From here, cross the Ntwetwe Pan to Gweta, a perfect spot for a midday lunch, and continue to Kumaga.

Note: If the pans are wet, an alternative route is advised—travel south from Kubu Island and take the Orapa-Motopi road to Khumaga.

From Kumaga, you can drive directly to Maun on tarmac.

Another option is to add an extra game drive through Makgadikgadi Pans National Park before continuing. In Maun, you stay at Discovery B&B.

Spend the morning in Maun stocking up on supplies and refueling.

Afterward, proceed to Moremi Game Reserve and Third Bridge Camp, situated on the edge of the Okavango Delta. The rest of the day is dedicated to game drives and wildlife spotting. Look out for lions, hyenas, leopards, elephants, and various antelope species.

Please note that campsites within Botswana’s parks are unfenced, meaning wildlife may roam freely through the camp day and night.

After the morning game drive, continue through Moremi Game Reserve towards Khwai at North Gate.

Today is dedicated to game drives. Lion and leopard occur in this area. Reach North Gate and Khwai Campsite in the afternoon.

Once camp is set up, slow down for a while or take an evening game drive along the Khwai River.

The 4x4 track from Khwai to Savuti offers a spectacular game drive in itself. An early departure allows for an extra loop around North Gate before continuing your journey.

You will arrive at Savuti Campsite in the afternoon. This region of Chobe is famous for its bull elephants and the Savuti Pride, a resident lion pride near the Savuti Marsh.

The Savuti Channel flows through this area into the marsh. After being dry for decades, water has returned in recent years. Enjoy an extended game drive in the late afternoon.

Leave Savuti behind and head towards the northern section of Chobe National Park.

Your 4x4 will prove essential on the sandy tracks. Arrive at Ihaha, located along the Chobe River, in the afternoon. Once you've set up camp, there will be time for another game drive. Overnight at Ihaha Campsite.

Drive to Chobe Safari Lodge in Kasane.

Along the way, you may see several antelope species and possibly predators such as lion or wild dog. Leave Ihaha in the morning and you can reach Kasane by early afternoon, leaving time for another drive in Chobe National Park.

This marks the final day of your Botswana adventure. After returning your 4x4, proceed to your next destination or begin your journey home.

Optional extension: You may choose to extend your trip to Victoria Falls. The round trip from Kasane is approximately 160 kilometers. Alternatively, you can cross the border in your rental vehicle and spend two nights at a lodge near Victoria Falls (additional costs apply and are not included).
