In the far east of Botswana the Limpopo flows past enormous trees and wildlife reserves. By day you look for elephants and leopards. When it gets dark, the starry sky remains.

Where Botswana lies between two rivers.

The Tuli Block forms the most easterly part of Botswana. Zimbabwe and South Africa lie close by, while the Limpopo and Shishe form natural country borders.

Within the area lie various wildlife and nature reserves. Mashatu Game Reserve and Tuli Nature Reserve are the largest of these. Many elephants and leopards live in this part of Botswana, among other animals.

Along the Limpopo stand enormous trees. They not only give the landscape its character, but also provide shade at the campsites along the river.

Wildlife by day. Only stars in the evening.

In the Tuli Block you do not have to cover kilometres every day. Head out on a game drive and see what appears between the trees. Or leave the 4x4 behind and take a day by the Limpopo.

Birdwatchers also have plenty to look out for here. Solomon’s Wall is another place you can include during a stay in the area.

And when the light disappears, you no longer have to go anywhere. Then looking up is enough.
