Nkasa Rupara National Park lies in thesouth-west of Namibia's Zambezi Region. The Kwando forms its western boundaryand the Linyanti its south-eastern edge.
The park is a mix of reed beds, lagoons,channels and higher islands. When water levels rise, much of the area turnsinto an extensive wetland.
A 4x4 with recovery equipment is required.Facilities inside the park are very limited, so preparation andself-sufficiency matter.
Buffalo and elephants move through an open borderland.
Nkasa Rupara holds Namibia's largestconcentration of buffalo. The park is also an important corridor for elephantsmoving between Botswana, Angola, Zambia and Namibia.
Hippo, crocodile, lion, leopard, hyena andAfrican wild dog also occur in the area.
