Durban is South Africa’s second-largest city by population. In the late nineteenth century, many workers from India came to Durban to work in the harbour. Their influence is still part of the city today.

Local markets and many Indian restaurants give Durban a character of its own. At the same time, the coast is never far away.

The warm maritime climate and pleasant sea temperatures make Durban popular with South African travellers. The waves also bring plenty of surfers to the city.
