Chobe is not one landscape.
Chobe National Park lies in northern Botswana and brings together several different landscapes. Chobe Riverfront, Ngwezumba Pans, Savuti and Linyanti each have their own character.
Along the Riverfront, floodplains, swamps and riverine woodland shape the view. During the dry winter months, large herds of elephant and Cape buffalo gather at the water.
Kasane sits beside this northern section and is a practical base for game drives and boat safaris
Savuti begins where the sand tracks get serious.
Further into the park lies Savuti. The area is known for predators such as lion, cheetah and hyena, as well as large numbers of elephant.
The Savuti Channel runs towards Savuti Marsh. Its unusual feature is that the flow can disappear for years and later return.
The route between Riverfront and Savuti follows sandy tracks. This is where a 4x4 starts to matter.
