Mount Moorosi, also known as Moorosi’sMountain, lies beside the Orange River in southern Lesotho.
The mountain is named after Chief Moorosi,leader of the Baphuthi. During conflict with the Cape colonial government, heand his people retreated to the mountain.
In 1879, the stone fortifications on MountMoorosi held out for nine months during the siege by colonial forces.
The history is still visible on the summit.
You can climb the mountain to see theremains of the stone fortifications used during the siege.
The hike leads to a historic site, but italso opens views across the mountains and valleys of southern Lesotho.
