Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti is Africa’s most famous wildlife park and an absolute dream for a self-drive safari. Its vast plains, rocky kopjes and endless horizons make this park truly unique. Thanks to the open landscape and exceptionally high wildlife density, the Serengeti can be explored perfectly well in your own 4×4. You drive entirely at your own pace, without depending on a driver or guide.

Contrary to common belief, a guide is not required. The Serengeti has a logical network of main and secondary routes. The main connections between the different regions can sometimes be corrugated and therefore slightly less comfortable, but they are fully manageable with a solid 4×4 vehicle. The other routes consist of sand and gravel tracks that are well suited for safari driving. The terrain is adventurous, but not technically extreme. With proper preparation, this park is excellent for independent exploration.

The Serengeti is renowned for its large populations of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, zebras and wildebeest. Depending on the season, the Great Migration moves through different parts of the park. Due to the vast size of the Serengeti, choosing the right region at the right time of year is essential.

We provide extensive guidance in this regard. Based on the season, we determine which areas of the Serengeti you visit and where you stay overnight, ensuring you are always in the most rewarding wildlife region. With our route advice and practical instructions, you can explore one of the world’s most iconic safari landscapes independently, safely and with maximum freedom.

Park entrance fees and required Serengeti permits can easily be arranged and paid upon entering the park. We provide detailed information in advance so you are fully prepared.
