Skuinsbaai Noord Campsite
The Skuinsbaai Noord Campsite is located in the Namaqua National Park. It is one of the most northern Coastal Campsites in this park. The campsite is located directly on the rocky Atlantic Ocean. The sea pounds the rocks here 24/7. A breathtaking spectacle!
The campsite itself is very simple. There is a stone “enclosure” that serves as protection against the (strong) ocean wind. There are two campsites at Skuinsbaai Noord.
From the campsite it is possible to explore the coastline (on foot). A little north (3 kilometers) of the Skuinsbaai Noord Campsite you will find an unspoiled beach. This beach is only accessible on foot but you can also drive the first part by car. You follow the 4×4 track to the North. Swimming in the Atlantic Ocean is possible but the water is very cold!
The northern Coastal Campsites can only be reached with a 4×4. Several parts of the route are heavy (soft) sand where the tire pressure must be reduced. From the Skuinsbaai Noord Campsite it is possible to drive the “Caracal 4×4 Trail” to the Skilpad Restcamp. The campsite is best reached from the Groenrivier Office of the SANPARKS.
Facilities:
- Longdrop toilet
- Stone enclosure
Wildlife:
With a bit of luck you will see seals or dolphins off the coast. Between the rocks you can discover crabs and other small sea creatures.
In addition to this campsite, there are several other campsites on the coast. The campsite is located in the Namaqua National Park. The campsite is part of the Western Cape Namaqualand Hiking and 4×4 trip. In the northern part of the park you will find the Skilpad Restcamp.
