The Skilpad Restcamp in the northern part of the Namaqua National Park is the ideal location to explore the park! The camp is relatively small and there are 6 chalets available. This ensures that the unique character of this location is preserved.

The camp is located on a hill. From the veranda of the chalet you have a view over the vast Namaqua National Park. The camp is an ideal starting point to drive the Caracal 4×4 Trail to the more southerly Coastal Campsites. In the flower season (August/September) the Namaualand blooms and the Skilpad Restcamp is also a good base to explore the park. During the (game) drives from the camp you also have a good chance of seeing various antelopes. For example the Gemsbok and the Springbok. You can also encounter Red Hartebeest and the (small) meerkats.

The Coastal Campsites (located not far from the Groenrivier Entrance Gate) are another location in the park. The Skuinsbaai Noord Campsite is highly recommended.
