Veel ruimte beneden. Je slaapplaats boven. Deze Toyota Hilux of vergelijkbaar, combineert de eigenschappen van onze robuuste Adventure pickup met een complete uitrusting voor zelfstandig kamperen. Afhankelijk van het aantal reizigers, de bestemming en beschikbaarheid wordt de auto uitgerust met één of twee rooftop tents. Dat kunnen soft shell of hard shell uitvoeringen zijn. Na aankomst klap je de tent open, zet je de ladder neer en ligt je slaapplaats klaar. Matrassen, slaapzakken, kussens en beddengoed worden meegeleverd. Ook de uitrusting om onderweg zelf te koken, eten en kamperen gaat mee. Onder de tenten blijft de kracht van de Adventure 4x4 hetzelfde. Veel ruimte voor bagage en uitrusting, een robuuste constructie, hoge bodemvrijheid en vierwielaandrijving voor routes die verder gaan dan asfalt en goed onderhouden gravelwegen. Wanneer het aantal reizigers of de gewenste slaapindeling daarom vraagt, kan daarnaast een grondtent worden meegenomen.

Before you set off, you’ll know exactly what’s included with your 4x4 and which costs are not. The exact equipment and rental conditions may vary by supplier, so we’ll go through everything with you beforehand. That way, you know exactly what to expect.

- Transfer bij aanvang en einde van de autohuur tussen de verhuurlocatie en de luchthaven of accommodatie, tot maximaal 20 km en binnen de reguliere openingstijden.

The rentalcompany’s standard insurance typically includes an excess and, in many cases,does not cover damage to items such as windshields, tires, and other specific components. Our supplementary insurance can significantly reduce the excess, bringing it down to a very low amount or even zero.
Everything you need to hit the road.
Your 4x4 is ready, the essentials are taken care of, and there’s no need to add a whole range of extras when you arrive. Every Selfdrive4x4 rental vehicle includes the following as standard.
- A 4x4 within your booked Selfdrive4x4 category, suitable for the number of travellers and your chosen configuration. The make, model and exact specifications may vary
- Unlimited mileage
- Two registered drivers
- Local support for technical issues and 24-hour roadside assistance
- Transfers at the start and end of your rental between the vehicle depot and the airport or your accommodation, up to a maximum of 20 km and during regular opening hours
- Mandatory standard charges, such as contract fees, administration fees and standard cleaning fees
- Local taxes
- Standard Cover insurance with an excess of no more than €3,500 per claim. In most cases, the excess is lower. The exact amount depends on the vehicle ultimately booked for you and is stated in your booking documents
What’s not included.
Some costs depend on your route, travel party or personal choices. These are therefore not included in the standard rental price.

- Cross-border fees and permits. We can arrange these for you
- Surcharges for collection or return at weekends, on public holidays or outside regular opening hours
- Transfers beyond 20 km or on days other than the first and last rental day
- Additional drivers beyond the two included

- Optional accessories, such as GPS, a satellite phone and a child seat
- Full Cover, unless explicitly included in your quotation
- Damage to or loss of camping equipment
With a camping 4x4, your place to sleep travels with you.
Choose a camping 4x4 and you’ll get more than a vehicle ready to go. You’ll also receive a complete set of camping equipment for the number of people booked.
- One or more rooftop tents and/or a ground tent, depending on your booked configuration
- Mattresses and sleeping gear
- Camping chairs for the number of people booked
- A camping table
- A fridge
- Cooking facilities and basic cookware
- Plates, cups and cutlery for the number of people booked
- Basic kitchen utensils
- Water storage or a water supply
The exact camping setup varies by vehicle type and destination. What stays the same: you’ll have everything you need to set up camp along the way and hit the road again the next morning.

Renting a 4x4 is one thing. Knowing where you'll sleep on day 7, which route to take through Etosha National Park, and what to do if something goes wrong is another story.
